How to use a Righthand with Docusign
Prepare a reviewed envelope-status follow-up review from approved Docusign inputs, with a worked example, complete brief, access checks, and reconciliation.
Quick answer
Use approved Docusign envelope status records to prepare a follow-up review for the document owner. Distinguish a sent envelope, individual recipient activity, and envelope completion; no signature or legal conclusion should be inferred from a partial status.
Start with a envelope-status follow-up review that the document workflow owner can check against the original records. Righthand prepares the review artifact; the source application remains the operational record.
Establish the input route
Docusign’s developer explanation treats completed envelope status as distinct from earlier recipient and envelope activity and describes checking envelope status. Official Docusign reference, checked October 6, 2026.
The document administrator should supply envelope IDs, permitted recipient references, and the latest status observations. Confirm the correct account and environment for a connected route. The review needs status evidence, not unrestricted copies of sensitive agreement contents.
Check the current integration directory and Righthand setup documentation. A listed app does not establish every read or write action. For a connected route, verify the assigned account, available operation, object scope, and one permitted sample read. This guide also works from an explicitly supplied, approved extract; it does not require an unverified native operation. Keep credentials out of the article brief.
Worked input and output
These three records are synthetic illustrations, not customer results or a hands-on integration test.
| Approved input | Proposed review output |
|---|---|
| DS81: envelope sent; one recipient signed | Show outstanding recipient state; do not call envelope complete |
| DS82: envelope completed in supplied observation | Include completion evidence and its timestamp for owner review |
| DS83: reminder request names a similarly titled envelope | Require exact envelope ID before any follow-up proposal |
The follow-up review should retain the unit of status: envelope or recipient. DS81’s individual signature is not enough for an envelope-level completion statement. DS83 needs identity confirmation because a document title can be reused across customers, versions, and separate signing workflows.
A complete first-run brief
Use an approved Docusign envelope/recipient status extract for October 12–16, 2026. Fields: account reference, envelope ID, document reference, envelope status, recipient reference, recipient status, observed time, owner. At Monday 9 AM America/Los_Angeles, prepare a envelope-status follow-up review as source-linked Markdown in my private review thread. Preserve record identities and the extract timestamp. Group unresolved items by next action and responsible owner. Reviewer: document workflow owner. Do not sign, send reminders, void envelopes, change recipients, interpret legal terms, or distribute documents. Result check: Compare envelope IDs and the latest status observations; check outstanding recipients against the same envelope.
A permitted preparation step does not authorize a consequential write or an external send. Resolve proposed changes through the app's supported process after the responsible owner approves their exact scope.
Reconcile before widening the task
A status extract can be stale when a recipient acts after its cutoff. Refresh the evidence before preparing an actual reminder. Completion evidence also does not establish every downstream filing or business obligation; check the relevant handoff source separately.
Begin with the document owner’s next pending-envelope review. Verify DS81’s recipient list and DS83’s exact identity, then record which items require a fresh status check. Keep reminder wording as a separate approval draft with its intended recipient named.
For the first acceptance review, keep the original input slice beside the result and mark which items were checked. If access or evidence is incomplete, return that gap with its record identity rather than a confident completion statement. Review Pricing using the actual preparation workload and correction effort.
